EXPLORING KAMP-IRAG WITH MY FRIENDS! 🏕️🌧️

Hello, mga ka-Hivers! I would like to share with you my adventurous experience. Firstly, we already, like planned our destination before, and it's like we were expecting that it would be a drawing that we needed to color. But on January 5, 2025. We decided to make it real, I mean the drawing, so we went to KAN IRAG in the morning, like around 10-11AM for us to prepare, and rode to the Kan-Irag base.
We needed to leave the multicab since we couldn't bring the multicab to Kan-Irag since it is a mountainous and remote access place. I'm with the Geng Geng friends, who are our neighbors as well, in my Lola's place. I'm glad I met them because they're funny. I was like, "I always laugh when I'm with them because they're clowns and a joker," lol.
After a long minute of walking and bringing our things to the top of the Kan-Irag, we encountered a lot of struggles, like its kind of muddy way, and we felt tired because the things that we held and brought were heavy. Moreover, along the way, it was rocky and grassy at the same time. We always stopped when we felt tired and had difficulty breathing. I almost lost as well because I first walked when I didn't know the exact way to the top, so I just, like, guessed the road.
When we arrived at the top, we felt we achieved something good because we didn't die and lost our breath until we reached the place. It felt peaceful and refreshing, with the air touching my skin.It was very fresh to breathe in. My kuya and his girlfriend went to that small house to pay for our entrance fee, which was ₱100.00 each, so it was a bit expensive since there were many of us. I didn't have a problem with that because my kuya would pay for it, not me, hehe.
After that, we were looking for a perfect place to stay and set up our tent. We all did our tasks; I assembled my tent right away while the boys looked for rocks to set up a stove-like structure to cook our rice. The other half assembled the dining area with a table, chairs, and other items to prepare because it was almost dark, and we arrived at 3:00 PM, so we needed to hurry. When I was done, I helped roast the pork and prepared the soy sauce. We ate a bit because we were feeling hungry.
It was already dark, so we decided to rest and chat while having fun by sharing our thoughts and experiences. They were drinking alcohol except for me, as I wasn't drinking alcoholic beverages at that time because their drinks were very strong, and I didn't like it, even the smell of it. I forgot the name of the alcohol, but I think it was similar to Emperador or Fundador, I guess. My role was to eat the food (pulutan) and act as their server, pouring alcohol into the glasses and handing them to the person next to me in a clockwise manner. Then we felt a drop of rain. We thought it would just pass, but it suddenly rained cats and dogs.
It was a disaster for us because our things were destroyed; our tents, blankets, towels, and even our clothes were soaked. It was so windy that our tent got blown away along with other items. So my kuya decided we should transfer to a rented room since it wasn't good to stay in our place, as we were getting wet along with our food, and we needed to move right away.
My things were very wet, especially my clothes and the blanket. I wore a sleeveless top at that time, so I needed my jacket, however, my jacket wasn't surviving the rain, so I just hung it on the wall, wishing that it would dry. Thankfully, my kuya's girlfriend had this extra towel, so I borrowed it to cover myself from the cold. The room was so small that we all couldn’t fit inside, so we were outside continuing to roast the pork for us to eat again since we didn't eat much earlier when we arrived; therefore, we stayed outside the room for a while letting the floor to dry.
The geng geng was very wet as well because they were the ones who transferred almost all our things to the small room. They found the roasting tools to continue cooking the pork. As we felt hungry, we ate after they cooked all the marinated pork we brought. While I was drying the floor inside, it was a struggle to find something dry to wipe the wetness of the floor.
I tried to create airflow, like a fan, by waving the folder I found inside the room to help it dry faster. When the floor was almost dry, I unfolded the blanket and spread it out so that others could sleep. Only three of us could fit in the room, while the others were outside trying to build the tent and drying it out. Someone brought a piece of cloth (swing) to tie to the strong post where they slept.
On the second day in the morning, after we woke up,we washed our faces and brush our teeth. We drank coffee and ate some food left over from yesterday. We folded the tent and packed our things into our bags to prepare to go home. We cleaned the place before we left, and my kuya had already paid for the room the night before.
We went home tired and continued our sleep because we didn’t get enough hours of sleep. It was a tiring yet enjoyable, adventurous, and memorable day for us. Maybe next time we will be lucky to have good weather and not rain. That's all, mga ka-hivers, and please comment on your camping experiences as well if you have any. If you want to visit at Kan- Irag in Cebu, I also paste the location on the map below. Thank you and have a good day/night!!
